Update/Weekend

Hello there!! :)

This post is kinda an update on the things I mentioned last week about my grandparents and the rough week, but also about my weekend!  So let's get this show on the road.... :)

I went home on Friday after work.  I didn't even go home though on Friday.  I went straight to my best friends house!!  We lefted pretty much as soon as I got there.  We went to Charming Charlies followed by the mall.
Then we went back to Kayleen's dorm room before going to a 9pm movie.  We went to Endless Love....IT WAS AMAZING!  I'd highly recommend seeing it!  Then we went back to her dorm before us plus one of Kayleen's college friends went back to her house.  We had ice cream and then fell asleep during a movie.
Saturday morning we got up somewhat early, took Kayleen's friend back to dorms and then hung out until Kayleen went to work.  Then I ran a couple errands, visited my mom and then had a lazy afternoon at home.
My grandpa got moved into a home (assisted living/dementia/Alzheimer home) on Saturday morning.  (some of what i'm about to write for is more to be documented purposes then to tell).
We visited him on Sunday (2/23/14) and things seem to be going as well as we would have thought.  Grandpa had a rough morning, but it's because of things that happened at home also.  The nurses seem to love him and the place seems homey.  I think it helps that my dad cleans carpet there so people know him, my dad's girlfriend works there and we know the head nurse.  I'm thankful for that, because we have people looking after my grandpa!  This is something needed and for the best.

We also visited my grandma in the hospital.  She looks like her normal self and my dad said she looks better then she did on Saturday.  She said she feels a ton better, so fingers crossed she goes home today!! :)

So things are looking better and i'm glad to  end the week on a better note then the week was going!!:)

I Love Five On Fridays

Can you tell that I like to do Five On Fridays?  It's just an easy way to wrap up the week, have a more casual post since it's a Friday and tell you what's been going on with me!!
It's been kinda a rough week this week...to read more about that read yesterday's post!

  1. I  had a relaxing evening last night, which was so needed and nice!!
  2. This week I have been so thankful for family and friends.  This week i've had a 30 minute and 40 minute phone call to my best friend.  It's just so nice to have friends that will listen to me, let me destress and make me feel better!
  3. Tonight after work I am going home to see Kayleen!  After this week, nothing sounded better then an evening with my best friend :)  We are going to see Endless Love in theaters, i'm excited!!
  4. The quote below is my altime favorite quote currently.  It's kinda my quote for life.  It's even my phones current background :)
  5. Next weekend if my cousin's birthday party and i'm going to church with my grandma.  So two busy weekends and I am excited for them both :)  Have a great weekend!!

This Week

I am sorry to report that I don't have an exciting post for this Thursday.

I find it funny how this week I had a post about a happier me, but this week has been a rough one.  Not only have I been working an hour to 3 hours extra (which don't get me wrong, is good for the money, but it makes the days busier), but there has been a lot of bad news about my grandparents health this week.  My grandpa just honestly isn't doing well and will be moving to a dementia home this coming week and we honestly don't have too much more time with him.  And to top all that off my grandma is in the hospital.  So that just has added a lot of stress on my week!  And then to top it all off, I haven't felt good today.  I don't know if it's just this weeks stress and busyness that has caused this or what.  It's just been headaches, cough/gunk in my throat, tiredness and stomach hurting.  I just don't have time for all this!

Anyways, it's been a rough week but for the most part I keep positive :)  So if you all could pray/send positive thoughts my families way I'd appreciate it!  As far as the sickness, I took this afternoon off work and just relaxing and taking it easy and hopefully get a lot of rest and feel better in the morning!  Because tomorrow is a busyish day!

So sorry for the boring post, but know you all what's happening with me!  Hopefully be back with a more exciting post tomorrow :)

Jaylyn's Guest Post

Thanks to Jaylyn for guest blogging for me today!  Hope you all enjoy and go give Jaylyn's blog some love!  Tell her I sent you :)
-----------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited to be guest posting for Jamie today :)
Thanks for having me!
I'll start off by tell you guys a little about me. My name is Jaylyn. I'm 21 years young. I live in Canada. And I'm a Nanny!
Since my job is the main thing in my life right now and I get a lot of questions about being a Nanny or how I deal with taking care of other peoples kids, I thought I would share about it today :)
The main question I get asked is "what made you want to work with kids?".
And I never have an answer. The reason being is because its just always something I've been good at.
I was just shy of 3 years old when my little brother was born and I was like a little mommy to him. Once he was strong enough to hold his head up my mom would let me hold him, change his diaper etc. I use to get up in the morning and put a diaper, wipes and an outfit through the crib slates and then get a stool and pull myself over and into the crib. 3 years old and I would change my brothers diaper and get him dressed, and I would do it quietly so my mom could sleep longer. I mean is that normal? No.
Then I remember my neighbour had a baby and I use to go over (I was 7 years old) and sit and hold the baby so she could clean her house, do laundry, etc. She couldn't believe that at 7 I was so good at caring for a baby.
At 10 I got my first babysitting job. It was older kids, probably 5 & 7 at the time. We rode the same school bus, so I would get them off the bus, to their house, get them a snack and we would hang out for 2 hours until their parents got home.
From then on I was babysitting for my whole neighbourhood. Kid ranging in age from 1-8 years old. I was known as the Sherwood Babysitter.
When I was 15, I needed volunteer hours for high school. My mom saw an ad on Facebook posted by a lady who had just had triplets, who was looking for volunteers to help with feedings, baths, etc because her husband worked long hours. I called her and she was skeptical about having a 15 year old taking care of them even though she would be there but she agreed as long as my mom came with me.
She had about 20 volunteers who were all in there 30's or older, who were mothers, who were childcare professionals, who were grandparents, etc. And then me a 15 year old girl with no kids and in high school. When the triplets turn 8 months, she decided that she had a routine down and didn't need the volunteers anymore but she needed a babysitter for every Saturday for 3-4 hours so she could grocery shop and have some time for herself. She asked ME out of all the volunteers to be the babysitter. I was shocked but super excited. So at 15 for 4 hours every Saturday I would get there for their 12pm feeding, change all diapers, put them down for a nap, get them up at 2:45pm change diapers, feed them, play then she would be home. People couldn't believe I could handle it.
After that more people wanted me to be their sitter. So I had plenty of jobs to keep me busy.
When it came time to apply for college, I automatically applied for Early Childhood Education, I mean why not right? I personally wasn't a fan of the course but I just wanted a diploma so I stuck with it.
I did a lot of work in daycares and I HATED it. Absolutely hated it. I will never ever work in a daycare or put my kids in daycare. (No offense if you work in a daycare or have kids in daycare, its just really not for me). And I did a lot of work in schools to. I enjoy the school setting much more. When I graduated college I was only 19 years old and I didn't feel ready enough to start working in a school. So I decided to get some experience Nannying!
I love it. I love the freedom. I love doing my thing. Its just a fun job.
People always ask "how do you handle other peoples kids? i don't no how you do it". Trust me, there are days where I'm like OMG what the heck am I doing but for the most part its amazing. I'm with these kids 12 hours a day, I treat them like they are my own. Whenever I'm out in public people always call me the kids' mom and I correct them saying "oh im just the nanny" and I almost always get "Wow, you are so good with them, I would have thought they were yours". That makes me feel happy and like I'm doing a good job.
It's not easy by any means. I have days and moments where I want to lock myself in the bathroom away from screaming children but then when they run up and hug you and tell you "I lub you", that feeling goes away and you carry on.
Thanks for reading, feel free to check out my blog for more nanny stories!

New View On Life

This post is kinda a continuation/has to do with yesterday's post.  You can check that post out here!

I know I have kinda wrote about this before, but I'm a lot more of a happier person then I ever us to be.  When I got to drive, and got more freedom, I feel like I became a happier person.  I got a job, go places that I want, ect.  I think that freedom made me happier.  Like I said before I've written about this several times...Click Here!

And now, I am one semester into college and there has been some of it where I haven't been the happiest.  But I think I am the happiest I've been currently.

I am taking 5 classes, working at a local daycare, exercising (off and on...really trying to eat better and pay more attention to what I eat...ongoing effort/battle), spending times with people that make me happy, making time for friends/family back home, bettering myself, ect.

I have learned the lesson of being alone and having alone time is okay.  I don't need to be with friends 24/7.  I can do lunches and dinner with them and then spend the evenings relaxing in room or doing homework.  I'm a lot more okay with doing things alone now in college then I have ever been.  Heck, Monday I went on a walk all by myself...with a little friendly push by a friend!  I think finally being okay with doing things alone and not as much worrying about looking like a 'loner' has helped me be more happy.

I've also gotten to the point where I am watching more and less what I eat and making sure I get a fruit or vegetable in each meal.  And not snacking as much.  I am finally accepting that I shouldn't care about the number on the scale, but care about doing things to make me feel/look better...not wanting to lose weight for the scale but to make ME feel better.

I have gone awhile of not going to church due to A, not being home, B, having no motivation to get up on Sunday mornings and C, not wanting to drive.  This past weekend and 2 weekends before I've gone with my grandma to her church and I've loved it.  I love this church and trying to start making going to church atleast 2 times a month happen!  I always feel so much better afterwards :)

I think everything that is making me a happier Jamie is also part of the learning experience of college! :)

So this is a happier Jamie you are seeing and I hope she sticks around!
Come back tomorrow for a guest post!! :)

Please Please Please

Please please please...

Don't take this life for granted.  Live it.  Do you have any excuses???  NO!  Go live your life please.

Because I got a sad reminder today how we never know when this life is going to end.  It is horrible that it takes sad things to remind us that we need to live our lifes.

So please go live your life, don't let things get you down/sad and be happy!

Also, if you could please send prayers/positive thoughts to a friend and her family I would really appreciate it.

This Generation

Our generation...the generation that I am apart of...is the technology generation.  Now, I'm not saying that is a bad thing.  There is many things that we can easily do and technology helps us a ton.  Easily from your phone can look up directions or the weather, stay connected to others via social networking or search the web.

But our generation also is always on these smart phones.  For example, I was sitting in one of my classes waiting for the professor to arrive and class to begin.  You want to know what EVERY.SINGLE. student was doing?  On their cell phones..Surprise surprise?!

And in that moment I couldn't help but think that this is this generation.  And it's sad.  And i'm not saying that I ain't one of these students or that i'm not apart of this.  Because honestly, it's sometimes hard to go that hour and fifteen minute class without checking my phone.  Me and my generation have grown up with all this technology and in some ways I think we crave this technology.

But what my whole point of this post is to say that sometimes we need that break from technology.  Honestly, it is good for me to step back, pay attention to class and not use my phone for a whole hour and fifteen minutes.  Because, honestly, it is very sad if I can't do this.

So this is a good reminder for me, but maybe also you! :)

An Amazing Weekend

I had an amazing past weekend!!
Saturday was Kayleen's Birthday (my best friend) so I went home for the weekend!!  I didn't get back to town tiil almost 8pm on Friday as I worked til 5:45!  Friday night I just hanged out at home.  Saturday morning I went to my moms.  Then  Saturday at 2:30 I joined Kayleen, her sister and two of her sister friends to get our nails done!
After we went back to her house and other friends of Kayleen joined for pizza, ice skating & cake!
Me & The Birthday Girl!!
Picture from Sunday Morning
Then me, Kayleen's cousin and another friend watched some of a movie (I fell asleep) and stayed the night.  Sunday morning we all woke up at 11:30am (Which is late for me and all of us except one friend that had to leave at 8am).  We had brunch and then got ready.  I then went with Kayleen to take her cousin home 45 minutes away!
We had quite the experience!  Including almost missing an interstate exit, missing a turn and almost getting hit by a truck (Truck decided to move to the lane/spot we where in..don't know if they didn't see us or what..Thankfully we moved to the turn lane to avoid getting hit)
We grabbed Jimmy Johns on way home.  Went back to her house, eat, opened presents and she did my hair!
Then we went and saw That Awkward Moment!  Which was a great movie!
Then I went home and headed back to school!

It was an amazing weekend <3

Interterm Break

We had Interterm break from January 23rd to January 28th!  Spring semester started on the 29th!  So here is a much needed summary of interterm break!!

I got to see SO many people who I wanted to see over break!!  Everyday was full of something to do :)

Thursday I had to work 1 to 5:30 so I grabbed some yummy Chinese food before heading home!

I got to spend some time with the puppy!

Friday I made a bank and target run and just hanged out!  That evening it was just me, Sam & Buddy!
Saturday I had a lazy morning and then got to go see my favorite twins from the daycare.  I babysat them for about 2 hours and then just hung out and talked to their mom for another hour.  Then I went home, ate and then headed to Kayleens!
We went ice skating with her cousin, sister and brother!  I only went out 5 times and had a death grip on Kayleen!  By the end I loosen the grip on Kayleen and didn't hold onto the side and had a little fun.  I ended up staying the night at Kayleens.  Saturday I got up at 9am and headed home.  Shortly after my family went to my cousins 5th Birthday party!
Then Sunday night I went and saw a family friends 8 month old baby who is doing new things everytime I see him!! <3
Monday I treated myself to a shopping trip and then that evening I met my friend Ashley for dinner!
Tuesday I had a slow moving morning before stopping by my grandparents on way back to school.
And there you go!  My Interterm break recap!
